The Ba’al Shem Tov
The “Baal Shem Tov” – – (the instigator of the Hassidic movement) asked his pupil: R’ Maier Margaliot: ‘Meirel’, do you remember the Shabbat (Saturday), when you began to learn Chumash (it is a Torah in printed form) – the big room in your father’s house was full of guests. They stood you on the table and you gave your sermon?
Answered R’ Meir: of course I remember. Suddenly my mother entered and abducted from the table, in the middle of the sermon, immediately my father became angry, and my mother pointed at a man dressed in fur of peasants that stood by the door and looked at me. Immediately everyone understood that she is afraid from the Evil eye. And she is pointing towards the door – the man disappeared.
I am the man, said the R’ Baal Shem Tov, in this hours the look can plant a great light in the soul, but people’s fears is putting barriers in front of the light.”
